Sixty years ago this month, on May 1, 1959, Paulist Fr. Ernest Mort was ordained a priest by Cardinal Francis Spellman at the Church of Saint Paul The Apostle in New York City.

Fr. Mort, 87, lives in San Diego, where he has been part of the UC San Diego community since 1966.

He was director of the Newman Center Catholic Community at UC San Diego from 1966 to 1969, and then served as dean of Revelle College, UC San Diego until 1993.

From 1960 to 1966, Fr. Mort served at St. Thomas More Newman Center in Columbus, OH.
