In Memoriam: Paulist Deacon James Traynor (1946 – 2019)

With sadness, we announce that Paulist Deacon James Peter Traynor entered eternal life on Sunday morning, June 23, 2019, at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. Aged 72 years, he recently suffered a heart attack and died from related complications.
 
He was born on November 13, 1946, in Queens, New York City.
 
Deacon Traynor made his first profession to the Paulist Fathers on June 15, 1968, and his final profession on April 16, 1973. He also was ordained a deacon on April 16, 1973.
 
He had been inactive for many years.  He lived with his brother, Frank, in the Maspeth neighborhood of Queens.
 
Deacon Traynor’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle on Columbus Avenue at 60th Street in Manhattan. There will be a viewing in the Church prior to the Mass.
 
Internment will follow (at approximately 12:30 p.m.) at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery in Oak Ridge, NJ.
