The Paulist
Community is
well known for
its innovative
approaches in
helping people
find, rediscover
and understand
the Catholic
Church. When a
daughter or a
son, a
grandchild or a
spouse, turns
away from the
Church people of
faith want
someone to reach
out to them. The
Paulist Fathers
view this as
central to their
mission.
Expanding upon
and developing
new and
innovative
apostolic
ministries for
all seeking
spiritual
sustenance in
the 21st Century
will require
significant
programmatic and
endowed funds.
Forty-three
percent of the
campaign's
proceeds will be
allocated toward
the growth of
Paulist
Apostolic
Ministries.
A FUTURE
BRIGHTER THAN
ANY PAST will
focus on funding
and eventually
endowing
important
Paulist
priorities
including the
following
initiatives:
Paulist
Reconciliation
Ministries: This
office will
support and
promote outreach
initiatives and
Landings
programs in the
twenty Paulist
ministry centers
and in diocesan
parishes
throughout North
America. The
office will also
focus on working
with diocesan
and other
Catholic bodies
to address
issues of
outreach and
reconciliation
in the hardest
hit areas of
North America.
The cost of
establishing an
office for and
conducting
reconciliation
ministries will
be $1.3 million.
Paulist Young
Adult
Ministries:
The Paulists
recognized a
need for
specialized
ministry to
those in their
20s and 30s and
formed Paulist
Young Adult
Ministries in
2002. The goal
of the ministry
is to connect
young people
with a Catholic
community by
reaching the
greatest number
of young adults
possible with
the Gospel
through every
available means
of
communication.
This effort will
entail
significantly
increasing the
available
content on
BustedHalo.com,
making young
adult retreats
more affordable
and increasing
the programming
offered to
parishes for
young adult
ministry. The
cost of such
expansion of
this ministry
will be $1
million.
Paulist
Communication
Ministries:
In a world of
ever-changing
media where
people will
create their own
entertainment on
their computers,
the Paulists
will need to be
there with them,
fostering a
compelling
faith-based
environment. The
Paulists will
invest in modern
media production
technologies and
training in
order to ensure
that Paulists
will continue to
make an
influential
contribution to
the content of
media with
gospel values
throughout the
United States
and Canada. For
this purpose we
will need to
establish a fund
for Paulist
Communication
Ministries that
will begin with
$1 million.
Paulist
Evangelization
Ministries:
The Paulist
mission is
evangelization
which is an
open, dynamic,
sensitive and
compassionate
proclamation of
faith in ways
people can hear:
we invite the
seeker to faith;
we call
Catholics to
deeper faith or
a return to the
practice of
their faith; we
work with other
believers to
build
understanding
and unity; we
find innovative
ways to touch
segments of
society in
cities and on
college
campuses. The
campaign will
seek to expand
this ministry by
appropriating $1
million within
Paulist
Apostolic Works
specifically for
evangelization
and outreach.
