Adam Dawkins was recently named Executive Director of the Office for Financial Development for the Paulist Fathers, working out of the North American Paulist Center in Washington, D.C. Mr. Dawkins first encountered the Paulists about seven years ago, while he was a seminarian in the Diocese of Charleston, S.C.
“I was impressed by their radical hospitality and commitment to bringing all people to the table of Christ,” Mr. Dawkins said, noting that he has kept in touch with the Paulists throughout the years. “When I was offered this opportunity to serve alongside the Paulist community, I could not wait to get started.”
In his new role, Mr. Dawkins is responsible for gathering resources needed to sustain the ongoing ministry of the Paulist Fathers through financial development and the Paulist capital campaign, A Future Brighter Than Any Past. He enjoys talking about the Paulist commitment to “preach the Gospel in new ways and in new forms” and to “find Him here, now, and where we are.” He is committed to facilitating our benefactors’ support of this mission.
Prior to coming on board with the Paulist Fathers, Mr. Dawkins coordinated major giving and internet fundraising in the Development Office at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. He has also served in the Diocese of Charleston and as Diocesan Missioner for Youth and Young Adult Ministries in the Episcopal Diocese of Nevada.
Mr. Dawkins holds a degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina, and is pursuing an MBA with a concentration in nonprofit management at Trinity University in Washington. He has also studied at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Md.
A native of Greenville, S.C., Adam and his wife, Brianna, live in the Brookland community of Washington, D.C. They have two dogs: a Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever named Oscar and a Pekingese named Grimace.
“There was particular focus on being more clear as to what is unique about the Paulists,” said Paulist president Father John F. Duffy, C.S.P. “Such clarity hopefully can enhance our vocation efforts. There was a commitment on the part of the various Paulists present to be involved in defining more clearly the “Paulist brand” and to explore ways of how we can expand our vocation efforts.
