Stages: New ministry in LA

St. Paul the Apostle, Los Angeles, parishioner Dr. Judy Ho is starting a new ministry at the parish called STAGES Project: Students in Theater Arts Advancing psycholoGical and Social functioning (STAGES) Project.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Volunteers can serve on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. June 26 through July 19. The program takes place at the John Adams Middle School, 2425 16th St. in Santa Monica. Volunteer for as many sessions as you like!

This outreach is to assist at-risk, low income children who are transitioning from fifth grade to sixth grade (middle school) and who are falling behind in school or showing emotional/behavioral problems. You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. You will be helping to mentor the children in the classroom, facilitate teamwork activities, lead classroom activities to improve social skills functioning and group discussions, help at a dress rehearsal or at the show, including stage setup, costumes, helping kids get ready, ushering, etc.
