  • Pre-registration is always appreciated, and we welcome last minute arrivals.

A GOSPEL RESPONSE TO ECONOMIC INEQUALITY

  • Explore changes wages, work, and wealth since the 1986 publication of the Bishops’ Pastoral “And Justice for All’.
  • Why does extreme inequality matter for our democracy, economy, and culture?
  • What are the solutions? What social movements and organizations advocate for a different vision?

Chuck Collins directs the Program on Inequality and the Common Good and is Senior Scholar at the Institute for Policy Studies. His most recent book is The Moral Measure of the Economy (Orbis 2005), co-authored by Mary Wright of Just Faith. He coordinates a national effort to preserve the federal estate tax; he co-authored with Bill Gates Sr., Wealth and Our Commonwealth, a case for taxing inherited fortunes. Chuck co-founded the Boston-based organizations, People United for a Fair Economy and Responsible Wealth.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP meets monthly at 7:15 p.m. to discuss a book chosen by the group.
